What is happening in the gym?

The Physical Ed. grades will be aligned with the Standards-Based Progress Report. This means that the students will be graded in the following 5 key concepts. Even though the PE units will change throughout the year, these key concepts remain constant.

1. Demonstrates motor skills

 

2. Demonstrates an understanding of movement concepts and principles.

 

3. Participates in/understands a healthy level of physical fitness.

 

4. Demonstrates responsible personal & social behavior. These key concepts will be part of the weekly PE program and will be continually assessed by the students and the teacher. The student's EFFORT grade is very closely tied to this standard because behvior and responsibility are also part o the grade.

 

FOUR-POINT PERFORMANCE SCALE

Students will be rated on a Four-Point performance scale.

Level 1 - Student is experiencing difficulty understanding the standards covered in this reporting period. (area of need)

 

Level 2 - Student is near the expectations for the standards covered in this reporting period.

 

Level 3 - Student meets expectations for the standards covered in this reporting period.

 

Level 4 - Student exceeds expectations for the standards covered in this reporting period.
